Are You A "Big-Godder"?
One theologian has said, “Is it too much of a coincidence that the advance of atheism parallels the retreat of the church on the Trinity?” Churches that neglect the Trinity are churches that nurture practical atheism.
Donald Grey Barnhouse went back to preach at his seminary several years after his graduation. One of his former professors went to hear him preach. At the close of the meeting his old professor came up to him and said, “If you come back again, I will not come to hear you preach. I only come once. I am glad that you are a big God preacher. When my boys come back, I come to see if they are big-godders or little-godders, and then I know what their ministry will be.”
If we preach a little God we will have little impact during these troubling times. But if we preach a big Triune God then we will have a big impact in this town. When we fail to preach and teach the Triune God we will see the rise in practical atheism. But, if we embrace and proclaim this God, we will see lives changed, relationships restored, and communities transformed. Because What you know influences who you are.
This is a God you can come to with all your sin. This is not a God asking you to clean yourself up first. He is commanding you to come freely and to trust Him with all your sin.
