God Is Preparing You For Heaven
Why do we long to know that we are fully forgiven by Christ? Why do we ache to be assured that Christ’s righteousness is always sufficient for us? Why do we groan for the rock-solid evidence of God’s smile over us?
We long for heaven.
And why does God allow us to wrestle with this?
Because He is sanctifying us through that very longing (2 Cor. 4:16-18). To crave being in heaven to finally be in a perfected, glorified, and beatified estate as we gaze upon the matchless glory of Christ (Jn. 17:24) — this is our soul’s chief desire.
Finally beyond sin (1 Jn. 3:2)! Finally abounding in the rich experience of the infinite grace of Christ. Finally resting with complete peace (such peace that only a glorified state could handle) that Christ is ours and we are His (Rev. 21 & 22).
What if this is one of the reasons why He allows Christians to go through these difficult seasons? What if it is not a sign of His frown but a sign of His smile? What if He is loosening our grips on this life in order to prepare us for the next?
